About ICCE

Biblical worldview

ICCE makes provision for students to be educated with a curriculum that promotes a biblical worldview right up to the age of 18, with a focus on application and apologetics. There are opportunities for checking this with Biblical Studies essays in the coursework options, but whatever the project, whether Student Convention exhibits for credit or ICCE coursework, the student is always required to relate it to a biblical worldview and its application in the present world

Educationally robust

ICCE is educationally robust and requires teaching on extended writing and practical science. Essays and Science Projects require a high standard pass to prove the student has been taught to a proper standard. This coursework also enables outside validators to relate the standard to National norms

Rigorous assessments

ICCE has a rigorous system for ensuring that PACEs (workbooks) are correctly completed and scored. The Internal Moderator ensures that assessment practices are properly followed and also re-marks a specified percentage of tests to check for accuracy. External Moderators also sample tests and other assessments at a national and global level, adding further levels of validation. Careful systems are in place to document the whole assessment process.

Training and support

Training is provided and required for all ICCE personnel. Global, Regional, National and School/HEA level Coordinators and Moderators are trained and must pass the relevant elements in order to practise. An annual CPD requirement ensures that staff training is up-to-date and relevant. A global office and network of national coordinators provide support throughout the year.

Course variety

ICCE is a baccalaureate-style qualification with various exit levels – General, Intermediate, Advanced, Advanced Higher. Bias Courses enable students to choose courses which complement their skills or focus on those subjects required by their intended university/course.

ICCE also has less academic options: Basic for LDD/SEND, Foundation for those starting late or progressing slowly, and Vocational for those wanting opportunities in more practical subjects.

ICCE also offers a range of electives/further credit options, enabling students to personalise their transcript.

Global reach

ICCE is used world-wide and is responsive to national and regional issues, allowing permitted regional and national variations in non-core subjects. ICCE also engages with governments and educational officials as part of a global strategy for recognition of the qualification.

Academic Certificates

The ICCE is a baccalaureate-style programme offering four exit qualifications. The academic certificates build upon each other and should therefore be completed sequentially (i.e. each certificate becomes the prerequisite for the next level).

General

The General Certificate is comparable to Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) ‘O’ Level standard and is the first of the ICCE academic certificates.

Intermediate

This is the second academic certificate and forms a bridge between the General and Advanced Levels. The Intermediate certificate is comprised of 7 credits.

Advanced

The Advanced Certificate is comparable to Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)  ‘A’ Level standard and is intended for students who want to pursue higher education opportunities, study professional courses at colleges and universities, or enter the work place. Students may follow the standard Advanced Course or select from several bias courses.

Advanced Higher/Honours

This certificate provides an extension course for early finishers and high achievers and may be beneficial for those wanting to enter more competitive disciplines at tertiary institutions.

Specific requirements apply to each certificate.

NOTE: A credit unit is one year of study. 12 paces is equal to one credit unit

Vocational Certificates

The vocational certificates are available to those who need a qualification with a less academic focus

Basic

This course is designed for students with considerable Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The content varies with the individual education plan (IEP) of each student. It is important that the ICCE Office is aware of students’ IEPs and of the courses being followed

Foundation

The Foundation Certificate is for students who start late or work too slowly to complete a General Certificate. It is equivalent to the first year of General Level (Level 8) and could be considered to be similar to 5 GCSE short courses. It should not be applied for by those going on to the higher levels.

Vocational

This certificate is intended for students who wish to follow more practical vocations and therefore can replace some Level 9 academic subjects with courses relevant/adapted to their desired outcomes.

Graduation Exit routes in Kenya

ACE is currently undergoing curriculum review with Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). AEE is providing all policy, administration and documentation requirements as requested. The ministry of education is awaiting this approval in order to license and certify all schools and homeschools offering A.C.E. in Kenya

ICCE

Over the last ten years, graduates of the ICCE certificate have gained entry into a wide range of institutions of higher education.

Each university has its own admissions procedure and assesses each student’s application on its own merit taking into consideration all qualifications. The completion of an ICCE certificate does not guarantee a place at any institution, although in Kenya from 2020 the Kenya National Qualifications Authority begun approving the advanced ICCE certificate for entry into public and private universities

A.C.E.

A.C.E. provides a dual enrollment program through The International A.C.E. Qualification in partnership with Lighthouse Christian Academy in the USA. In partnership with Lighthouse Christian Academy (LCA) USA, learners can write The International A.C.E. Qualification, The College Preparatory Certificate or General Certificate.

LCA is a distance learning institution in the USA which uses the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) program and offers an accredited diploma. The LCA high school diploma is accredited in the USA and recognised within the USA and internationally.

AEE and LCA have entered into a dual agreement, enabling learners in South Africa and other African nations to achieve this qualification
